Lord Vishnu was having his prasad and mother Lakshmi was serving him. Suddenly Lord Vishnu got up and immediately started running. Lakshmi could not understand anything. But soon the Lord returned back. Lakshmi inquired, “What happened? Why did you rush so desperately and then returned back so quickly”. Lord Vishnu replied, “One of my children was in abject misery. He was being chased by a tiger. In desperation he called my name. Hearing his call, I immediately rushed towards him to save him. But soon he abandoned me and found a different means to protect himself. He actually thought that I will not come to save him. Sadly he even doubted if I will hear his prayer”.
We too pray to Lord but have we ever introspected if we are praying to him with firm faith? When confronted with any problems we rely on our ability rather than on Krishna’s mercy. Krishna is obsessed with our happiness. This is why when we leave him in the spiritual world and decide to come to this material world then in spite of our reluctance, he accompanies us as a Paramatma. But we are so adamant that we never seek his advice and never look towards him for guidance. Krishna eagerly waits for the moment when we will turn towards him. We need to exemplify the same keenness. We need to have firm faith in his love and care. Srila Prabhupada explains (Bhagavad – Gita 2.41 purport), “Faith means unflinching trust in something sublime”. Our firm faith and conviction will take us closer to the Lord. And then his mercy will start pouring just like the monsoon rain. Flower of joy and happiness will start blossoming in our life.
